EDLs and Wifi - Server Name restrictions

When setting up an EDL or a Wifi unit, the server name it will connect to needs to be a fully qualified domain name without any special characters. For example: server.geotab.local. If the server has a static IP, then an altertanive is to use the servers IP address.

Some special characters that are not allowed are: “:”, “-“, “/”

MSI Versions of Checkmate will no longer be distributed in Checkmate 5.5 and above

In order for Geotab to accommodate the gradual move to offering web based functionality, we are transitioning to a web only login. Web based functionality will allow customers to start using basic functionality on the web with any browser or platform (including Linux and Mac OS).

In Checkmate versions 5.3.1 and older, Checkmate was available for download as an MSI download, in addition to a ClickOnce download from the web. Checkmate version 5.5 is estimated for release in Summer 2010. In Checkmate version 5.5 and above, the MSI version will no longer be distributed. Customers can manage checkmate versions in a local environment by configuring Checkmate Web Server on a local server. All customers must use Checkmate ClickOnce version as a mechanism to run the software (http://checkmate.geotab.com) or launch the exe directly. To launch checkmate on a computer without internet access, please follow the steps in the following forum post.

Configuring Wifi Devices in Checkmate

This post discusses the steps required to configure a GO-Wifi setup in Checkmate.

The steps required to setup Wifi units in your Checkmate environment are:

1. Enable the Checkmate Wifi Service on a computer/server which is connected to the same LAN as your wireless router. To do this, open Checkmate and complete the following taskts:

a. Click Administration->Options->Services and check 'Enable Checkmate Server on this PC'
b. Click on Advanced and check GO Wi-fi
c. Enable inbound connections on port 3984 of your firewall

2. Create the appropriate wifi parameter keys to allow the devices to attach your wireless network and send their data. To do this, open Checkmate and complete the following tasks:

a. Click Vehicles & Devices->Troubleshooting & Accidents->Create a Wifi Setup Key
b. Select Wifi Server Key and click Next
c. Enter the Servername or IP address of the computer where you setup the Wifi Service
d. Click Next and follow the instructions to create the key
e. From the Checkmate home page, click Vehicles & Devices->Troubleshooting & Accidents->Create a Wifi Setup Key
f. Select Wifi Security Key and clidk Next
g. Enter your wifi network information into the form. Go Wifi devices support Open, WEP, WPA, and 802.11i/WPA2 Personal encryption
h. Click Next and follow the instructions to create the key.

3. After the Wifi Server and Security keys have been programmed you will need to insert the keys to each of your Go-Wifi devices. After the parameters have been applied, the devices will be able to get onto your wireless network and send their data through to Checkmate.

Hi... I´m testing the mobile aplication from my iPhone, I´m using "Opera Mobile 5" but only I see the vehicules stopped, not moving. My question is if we can see the vehicules moving?....

We have some customers that need this option.

Mappoint creating HUGE roads

We are currently utilizing ESRI with Mappoint 2010. When deplaying just ESRI, our maps and roads show up clear, readable, and fine. As soon as you switch to an overly on Mappoint, the roads become GIANT and literally swallow the map.

Also, along with the support of GEOtab, we had configured the Default Config file to pull data from geo. However, when going outside of the city, it will not pull the data from map point or any other maps. It simply shows up "blank" since there is no data to extract from the shape files. How can we modify the configuration file to pull this data outside of our city limits?

New Errors after Microsoft Update

After Tuesday's Microsoft Updates our once working Checkmate software now gives me this error when trying to start..

The database Kapps on localhost\Geotab is unavailable.

Contact your administrator to check the server. Error is:

The database version 32.18 is incompatible with the installed Checkmate application.

Would you like to retry connecting to this server?

Hi

Please advise how I can download and test version 5.5 or later. I would like to test it as a local web server. i.e install checkmate on server as application, database, and web server. I registered and got a "Geotab Demo" mail from SupportStaff@geotab.com, but got an error when click on login button

parameters for launching checkmate.exe

Hi, I noticed that after logging into the checkmate online and clicking 'Start Full Version', checkmate.exe is launched.

How do I go about just launching checkmate.exe independently and what parameters do I pass in?

With the changeover to the new format Geotab website, the link to the LiveAdmin site is gone. Could you please re-post the link here so I can save again to my favourites for future use.
The link I previously setup in preparation for the changeover, gives me error 404 Site not found.

I'm getting frequent Brown Out and power reset. Low voltage. Please explain the differences between them.

Please send a document that explains other different Log Reasons as well.
Please send me a regular\perfect log reason sequence for a trip.I frequently get BeginOfStop,EndOfStop and GprsModemPowerOff in trips with ignition and valid true.

Is it possible that a 24v lorry gets a Low Voltage while driving. The unit is powered to ignition switch

Inaccurate speed in reports (GO-RF)

Hello,
I am finding that the max. speed that shows up in the reports is not the true/actual speed that the vehicle was going. I was going 83 mph but the report is showing 73 mph.
Is there any advice you can give to correct this problem?
