As a woman in the workplace, have you ever paused to consider what your voice says about you? Your voice is more than the sound you make when you speak; it is one of the most authentic expressions of who you are. Your voice is defined by your background, experiences, your goals and so much more. It reflects your deepest values and convictions. It is how you show up for yourself and the things that you are passionate about. In the workplace, your voice is your identity.

Geotab recognizes how important a woman's voice is in a society that often seeks to silence her. The myVoice initiative is a key part of Geotab’s commitment to helping women find their authentic voices as professionals in the workplace and especially for women working in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Girls and women remain significantly underrepresented in STEM disciplines. Barriers coupled with gender stereotypes continue to make women a minority in this space. As a technology company that is passionate about data and sustainability, we are so proud of the women at Geotab who bring their STEM expertise to Geotab everyday.

Geotab’s myVoice conference seeks to bring together women with different backgrounds and stories, women who have developed a voice and are now positioned to help other women in their journey to finding theirs.

Sherry Calkins, Geotab Vice President of Connected Car and Platforms

Sherry Calkins, Geotab Vice President of Connected Car and Platforms, had this to say about the importance of finding your voice as a woman in the workplace: “When I started over 25 years ago, there were not many women in the meeting rooms. I was timid to speak up in fear of being judged or saying something that made me not sound intelligent. What I learned from that is by not speaking up, I am not noticed. My voice does matter and I have a lot to contribute, so I got comfortable being uncomfortable in the room, but didn't let it dim my light. Confidence can be gained, and you will continue to grow that confidence as you continue to prove your worth to yourself."

Geotab’s second annual myVoice conference will be held on Wednesday, March 8, themed “Thriving & Surviving as a Woman Leader in Tech.” The conference will feature compelling and inspirational conversations to help women at Geotab advance their careers, develop confidence and encourage them to find and use their voice —  because all women deserve to be heard.
