Smarter collision detection in MyGeotab

We've updated the collision detection AI model in MyGeotab to provide you with more reliable and precise alerts. This improvement focuses on reducing false positives and capturing true collision events more accurately.

What’s changed?

In the past, events like driving over speed bumps, hitting potholes, or backing up to a dock were sometimes incorrectly flagged as collisions. This behavior eroded trust in the collision detection model.

We’ve now released an updated collision detection AI model meant to eliminate these false positives and capture more true events. This model has been improved using your feedback and event labels to hone its detection capabilities. The result is a collision detection feature that you can trust to help keep your fleet safe.

How will this impact my fleet?

With this upgrade, fleets can expect better performance from the collision detection model, which translates to:

  • Better ability to respond to incidents, which reduces driver stress and provides accident services sooner
  • Faster response times for validating collision events, which results in faster claims processing and reduces fleet downtime

Important reminder: Changes coming to camera and video

If you missed last month’s What’s New, we’re here to remind you that we’re phasing out the Camera and Video Add-Ins as these features are now built directly into MyGeotab!

This change means a smoother experience for you, but before you can get started, you’ll need to make a quick update to your security clearances to avoid disruptions during the transition process. We’ve included everything you need to know here, along with some of the additional UI improvements you can expect to see.

If you’re an active camera and video user, we recommend you start accessing your Video Recordings and Video Devices in MyGeotab via their new homes. If you’re not sure where to start or need some help familiarizing yourself with the new locations' improved workflows, our new Video Management in MyGeotab User Guide can help point you in the right direction.

The Camera and Video Add-Ins will be fully discontinued by mid-May, 2025. We recommend that all Customers using these Add-Ins review the improvements being made over the next month to minimize disruptions and ensure a smooth transition.

A Cleaner Look for Data Sharing in MyGeotab

We've made changes to the Data Sharing feature in MyGeotab to streamline your workflow and provide a cleaner UI. We heard from you that the inclusion of the Rate plan column on the Asset Edit page made things feel cluttered, and that the inclusion of a Rate plan dropdown menu the data sharing workflow was confusing.

What’s changed?

The Rate plan column has been removed from the Asset Edit page.

Similarly, the Rate plan dropdown menu on the Data sharing dialogue box has been removed.

This update means a simpler, easier-to-understand interface. If you're a fleet manager or anyone who uses data sharing, you won't have to look at unnecessary information. You also won’t need to select a plan when sharing data anymore.

Who is affected?

All MyGeotab users who use the Data Sharing feature will be affected by these changes.

User improvements to the Clean Truck Check solution

We’ve made some updates to the Clean Truck Check (CTC) solution in MyGeotab! These changes are the result of feedback from customers like you and are designed to improve simplicity and reduce frustration.

What’s changed?

To make access management easier for fleets using the CTC solution, we’ve added new clearances and improved the existing Clean Truck Check Admin clearance. These changes will resolve access problems for our users.

The two new clearances are:

  • Viewer — view-only access to the Clean Truck Check solution
  • Editor — view access to the Clean Truck Check solution with limited editor abilities

The Admin clearance has been updated to provide users with the permissions they need to manage the Clean Truck Check solution with a single clearance.

We’re also adding audit logging for important CTC events, such as when a device is enrolled or enrollment is cancelled, including logging who made the changes. You can find these logs under SystemAudit Log.

Who is affected?

These changes will affect anyone using the Clean Truck Check solution. This includes fleet managers, drivers, and others involved in meeting California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations and driving in California.
