Creating with Purpose: Maksym’s Dual Passion for UX and Ukrainian Dance
How a world-class dancer brings creativity and discipline to UX design at Geotab

For Maksym Rewko, design is more than just aesthetics—it’s about creating experiences that connect, inspire, and improve lives. As a Lead Product Designer at Geotab, Maksym brings a deep passion for user-centered design, ensuring every digital interaction is intuitive and meaningful. But outside of work, he channels that same creative energy into another art form: Ukrainian dance.
Maksym’s journey to Geotab started in the UK, where he earned his Master of Design in Consumer Product Design. After beginning his career in 2014, he moved to Canada in 2018,. While seeking new challenges and a shift in industry, he reconnected with former colleagues who had joined Geotab, leading him to make the leap into telematics.
Now, as a Lead Product Designer, Maksym plays a crucial role in advocating for the user experience, ensuring that Geotab’s solutions are not just functional but also intuitive and user-friendly. “My role is about promoting a user-centric mindset across Geotab,” he explains. “I focus on designing products that are easy to use, efficient, and accessible—because great design should remove barriers, not create them.”
Raised in a household steeped in rich Ukrainian and Italian traditions, Maksym was surrounded by culture from the start. His parents, both dancers in their youth, passed down more than just a love for the art—they instilled a deep appreciation for discipline, commitment, and creativity. Dance quickly became more than an activity; it shaped his mindset. By his teenage years, Maksym was rehearsing over six hours a week, performing on weekends, and pushing through late nights and early mornings, all in the pursuit of excellence.

This lifelong dedication to dance has taken him across the globe—from stages in Canada and the UK to festivals in Greece and Ukraine. He’s performed with seven different groups over two decades, bringing Ukrainian culture to audiences at corporate events, cultural celebrations, and even theatrical dance productions. A standout moment was reaching the semi-finals of Sky One’s Got to Dance, performing live in front of millions. But for Maksym, the most meaningful experience was dancing in Ukraine itself—a powerful reminder that tradition thrives beyond borders.
The discipline, resilience, and precision that Maksym developed on stage are the same qualities he brings to his role at Geotab. Just as mastering choreography requires attention to detail and seamless collaboration, designing user experiences demands an intuitive approach, iterative refinement, and a deep understanding of the end user. Whether crafting digital interactions or captivating an audience, Maksym applies the same principles: clear communication, dedication to his craft, and a commitment to making an impact.
At Geotab, Maksym has found an environment that supports both his professional and personal passions. “It’s rewarding to be part of a company that values innovation and encourages us to bring our whole selves to work.”
Maksym’s story is a testament to the power of creativity, passion, and balance. Whether he’s shaping user experiences at Geotab or captivating audiences on stage, he proves that artistry and innovation go hand in hand—and that a high-performance mindset can be nurtured both inside and outside the workplace.
