When I started Geotab in 2000, the vision was clear: empower businesses with the data they needed to make smarter decisions about fleet management. We started with performance, operations, and safety, evolving to meet growing sustainability demands—fuel management, emissions, EV transition and electrification. It is clear that the connected vehicle industry has been fundamentally reshaped by the power of data insights. From cost savings and safety to efficiency and sustainability, data has transformed the management of fleets and connected transportation.
Growth and global impact: From 2 to 2,400
Today, Geotab has grown from 2 employees to 2,400, with 4.7 million connected vehicles across 160 countries. We process billions of data points daily, empowering organizations to make informed decisions and drive progress.
Geotab has always believed in pragmatic approaches to business challenges. We've learned that progress isn't always linear, and a lot depends on organizational goals, availability of solutions and people’s perceptions of real progress. Given the evolving global landscape of increasing costs and new economic realities, it's clear that, collectively, we must shift our approach to sustainability.
Catalysts of change: Cost reduction and efficiency
Whether it's through efficient route planning, minimizing idling and fuel use, or strategically replacing a few fleet vehicles with more sustainable options, these actions can translate into reduced operational expenses while supporting environmental goals. This pursuit of cost reduction and efficiency is likely to be the catalyst for change, one that integrates sustainability as a core part of business operations, regardless of external pressures or shifting attitudes.
The transformative power of data and AI
This is a transformative moment. The convergence of AI, deep learning and the availability of massive data sets provides unprecedented opportunities to optimize fleet performance and achieve sustainability goals. Geotab will continue to innovate and empower our customers with the pragmatic solutions they need to achieve both economic and environmental success. Together, we can shape a future where business and the environment truly thrive.
