At Geotab, we understand that our customers' data is essential to their business operations. That's why we take extensive measures to protect their data and ensure its privacy. We embed privacy into the design of our products and services from the ground up. Our Privacy by Design framework guides our approach to data protection and responsible innovation.
Our Approach to Data Protection
Our approach to data protection is based on the following principles:
- Data minimization: We collect only the data that is necessary for the intended purpose.
- Data security: We implement robust security measures to protect data from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.
- Access control: We restrict access to data to authorized personnel only.
- Data residency: We comply with data residency requirements by storing and processing data in the appropriate geographical regions.
- De-identification and anonymization: We use techniques to remove or obscure personal and confidential identifiers whenever possible.
We are committed to upholding the highest standards of data protection. We believe that by embedding privacy and data protection into our design processes, we can build trust with our customers and create innovative solutions that benefit both individuals and society as a whole.
Privacy in Practice at Geotab
In addition to the above:
- We have implemented a comprehensive data governance framework that outlines our policies and procedures for data protection.
- We have a dedicated privacy team that is responsible for overseeing our data protection efforts.
- We provide our employees with regular training on data privacy and security.
- We are constantly reviewing and improving our data protection measures to ensure that they are up-to-date with the latest threats and best practices.
This is all made possible by tight integration with Geotab’s legal, privacy and compliance teams. All major decisions pertaining to personal information and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are governed by an Enterprise Data & AI Risk Committee that meets quarterly. For new innovations relying on the capabilities of AI, we conduct ethics assessments and we have a “privacy by design” culture woven into the fabric of our development process. This means that effective security and data privacy are integral to every part of our business operations.
From product ideation to execution, Privacy and Security processes are always involved. We regularly perform penetration tests, risk evaluations and Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) across our products and systems, additionally working with third-party organizations to gain independent security validation.
We want our customers to TRUST us with their data as we prioritize data safety and security.
