Chemical statement
Our commitment
Geotab supports the European Union’s overall objectives of improving the protection of human health and the environment through RoHS Directive and REACH Regulation (see below).
In compliance with environmental standards, we have placed the following checks in our production and material supply to reduce hazardous materials used in our products:
• We analyze each stage of our operation to identify materials that could have a potentially harmful effect on people and the environment.
• We adopt appropriate controls and safeguards, including the elimination of hazardous materials from our products.
• We regularly interact with our suppliers and we document all the actions we take regarding materials.
• We regularly review our initiatives to improve current environmental practices, including the use of innovative and/or recycled materials.
Restriction of Hazardous Substances
We ensure compliance with the EU’s Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive, which bans new electrical and electronic equipment from containing more than permissible levels of hazardous substances, including lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants, DEHP, BBP, DBP and DIBP on the European Union market.
EU REACH Regulation (1907/2006/EC)
The EU REACH Regulation (1907/2006/EC) addresses the safe use of chemicals placed on the market and their potential impact on both the environment and downstream users. As a manufacturer of electrical and electronic equipment, Geotab supports this approach and is committed to meeting our responsibility with regard to the chemicals concerned, as well as the safe use of chemicals in our products placed on the market.
We are fully committed to meeting all regulatory requirements that apply to our products and we carefully monitor new and upcoming legislation that could affect us and our products. In addition, we have taken steps to implement these product requirements in a timely manner.
Geotab takes on full responsibility in ensuring Geotab products, accessories and packaging comply with EU law. Geotab is constantly designing and developing our products to be better for the environment and for our users.
Geotab holds its suppliers accountable for conducting testing and audits for substances of high concern at certified laboratories. Geotab may also verify supplier data using in-house testing.
Restrictions in products
We have established processes to identify whether substances of very high concern (SVHCs) are contained in our electrical or electronic products, and we are actively working with our suppliers concerning this matter, consistent with our commitment to our customers.
SVHC contained in Geotab products
Our efforts in identifying SVHCs in our products are ongoing, as our suppliers respond to our verification queries with relevant and complete information.
Our electrical and electronic products may contain any of the following listed SVHCs above 0.1 mass percent by weight: https://echa.europa.eu/substances-restricted-under-reach (list of restricted substances under REACH)
