TORONTO, ON (May 13, 2024)Geotab Inc. (“Geotab”), a global leader in connected vehicle solutions, today announced that it has won a Sustainable Product Award for the Geotab EV Suitability Assessment (EVSA) in the 2024 SEAL Business Sustainability Awards. The SEAL Sustainable Product Award recognizes innovative and impactful products that are “purpose-built” for a sustainable future.

Driving fleet electrification forward with data-driven insights

Climate change impacts, regulatory changes and increasing customer demand are driving companies to invest in sustainability. In an industry survey by Geotab, 42% of fleet professionals reported that customers will demand more sustainability initiatives in the next 1-3 years in order to continue doing business with them.

The Geotab EVSA helps streamline the planning process for EV adoption and eliminates guesswork, empowering fleet decision-makers to take informed action and make progress on decarbonization goals.

By analyzing real-world data, the EVSA predicts EV range capability based on factors specific to each fleet and vehicle being analyzed, leveraging EV performance insights based on millions of trips under different conditions.

“Cost is often seen as one of the major barriers for electrification. With the Geotab EVSA, fleets can obtain a tailored roadmap and financial forecast based on real-world driving data, helping build the business case for EVs and providing the confidence to go electric,” said Charlotte Argue, Senior Manager, Sustainable Mobility. “This SEAL Sustainable Product Award recognizes the relevance the Geotab EVSA has in supporting decarbonization, and sustainable business growth.”

Committed to a decarbonized and thriving future

The transportation sector is one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, responsible for 29% of greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. and 15% globally. Decarbonizing transportation is critical for making progress towards larger emissions reduction goals. As a commercial telematics platform depended on by fleets around the world, Geotab is dedicated to developing innovative technologies to reduce fleet emissions and improve vehicle safety for our customers. Geotab supports customers as they begin, manage and measure their sustainability strategies and goals, enabling organizations to strategically plan, manage regulatory requirements, and achieve their sustainability goals with data insights.

recent study based on aggregated data insights using the Geotab EVSA revealed significant opportunities for electrification: 75% of analyzed light-duty ICE vehicles could be replaced with range-capable battery electric vehicles today. Transitioning just the cost-effective light-duty ICE vehicles to EVs could prevent the use of 2.2 billion gallons of fuel and avoid around 19 million metric tons of CO2 emissions over the next seven years.

Sustainability is core to Geotab’s purpose. Geotab is a member of the UN Global Compact and a signatory of The Climate Pledge. Geotab was the first dedicated telematics provider to have its emissions reduction targets validated and approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
